HJOC Wins The Newfoundland and Labrador Employer's Council (NLEC) Employer of Distinction Award
Congratulations!!!!

H.J. O'Connell won the Newfoundland and Labrador Employer's Council (NLEC) coveted Employer of Distinction Award today. This is a great honor as the award recognizes employers who place value on their workforce, give back to the community they build and set new standards for excellence in Human Resources.

HJOC was among 17 finalists; competing against other employers.

H.J. O’Connell Construction was awarded the IOC Concentrated Expansion Project “Safety Contractor of the Month” for August 2011.

This award is a testament to HJOC employees for their commitment to safety excellence and living a culture where safety is considered more than a priority, it’s a value! Senior Management would like to thank and congratulate everyone for their hard work and dedication to working safely.

Project of the Year, Environmental Category

In August 2004 the City of Hamilton awarded a contract to O'Connell Construction Ltd. for the Road Realignment, Bridge Replacement and Stormwater Management Facility on Mountain Brow Boulevard at Albion Falls. The project was completed on time and on budget at a cost of 1.8 million dollars. The project was named 2004 Project of the Year in the Environmental Category by the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers.

NLEC "Employer of Distinction"
In the spring of 2003 H.J. O'Connell Limited was nominated and named as a Finalist for the Employer of Distinction Award presented by the Newfoundland and Labrador Employer's Council. This unique and prestigious award recognizes employers who view employees as fundamental to organizational success.

NLCSA "Award of Excellence"
At their annual conference and AGM, the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Safety Association presented H.J. O'Connell Construction Ltd. with their "Award of Excellence" for 2002. This award recognizes a company that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to Occupational Health and Safety in the construction industry of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Through continuous improvement practices and with the support and cooperation of all its employees, H.J. O'Connell Construction Ltd. continues to be fully committed to achieving and sustaining Zero Accident Performance.

NAOSH Week 2001
H.J. O'Connell Construction Ltd. received the Regional Award - Labrador for their efforts in promoting workplace health and safety during the 2001 North American Occupational Safety and Health Week.

Minister's Award of Excellence
On May 2, 2001, The Minister of Labour for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador presented H.J. O'Connell Construction Ltd. with "The Minister's Award of Excellence" for 2000. This coveted award is presented to a company that has demonstrated over time an improved safety record, enhanced product quality, improved training programs and overall company success.

NLCSA - "Company of the Year Award"
The Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Safety Association named H.J O'Connell Construction Ltd. "1998 Company of the Year" for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to construction safety.

NAOSH Week 1998
