Northern Work
O'Connell has been working in Northern communities for over 55 years. In order to deal with the difficult, often-hostile environment, we have developed innovative construction methods and logistical support systems, which are still in use today.The company spearheaded accessing the Chibougamau mining area, building the first road into the region. In additioin, H.J. O'Connell maintains successful partnerships with such Northern aboriginal groups as the Labrador Inuit, the Mushuau Innu of Labrador, and the Cree of Northern Quebec. O'Connell has developed an ongoing affinity with the North and has maintained permanent offices and maintenance facilities there for over 55 years.
