Mining related work comprises the single largest sector of the firm's business activities. The company has successfully completed a diverse range of mining projects including: overburden stripping for the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOCC), Wabush Mines and ArcelorMittal, the construction of dams and dykes for tailings containment for ArcelorMittal and foundations for pollution control structures for IOCC. O'Connell has also constructed mine crusher foundations and modernized existing facilities for various clients.
